Summer 2012 Granny "Square" Swap (sign ups closed)

Hahahaha!!!!! That's sooooo funny you noticed I do that.

Ooooooooo..... totally acceptable to me. I'd love a jazzed up 12" square!!!

Well we never made it out the door to do more shopping and now DD has plans to meet w/ a friend, so maybe later tonight we'll get some done. I guess I'll take the dogs out and then head to my non-paying job and bring my hubby a soda.
Good cause you're getting one!

Hope you got your shopping done. I know your DD is anxious to get everything done. :)
Fine w/ me too especially since one of my squares are crochet, embroidry, and weaving.
I thought that one in your 1st pic had to have some extra steps. It looked so complicated. I'm gonna work my way up to that eventually. Every time I do one of these swaps I get better though. Trying different pattens forces me to learn.
Good luck on the cable and chicks!
Thanks! BTW I got on and voted. I just had to leave it up for 15 mins and it finally loaded. Must be my connection. I couldn't get on Southwest Airlines website either and I waited well over 15 mins for it to load. You are only 8 votes away from 100!!!

UGH! I finally got the pics downloaded to my computer but now they won't upload to the thread. I'll try again the next time I head into town.

Kate... I noticed that you can vote again every so often... any idea how long you have to wait between? Can you please continue to post reminders? Everything I see it, I will click to see if I can get you another vote. Today it is telling me in 4 more days.

I just finished an NFL SWAP with a group on Facebook. Everyone was assigned a team to make 32 squares, we keep one. We will get one from each team back. I was assigned the Minnesota Vikings. I have a friend that is a new crocheter and she was assigned the Buffalo Bills. She came and spent a few days with me last week and I helped her complete her squares so we could get them shipped out in time. Hubby has had his eyeballs on this swap from the beginning. I found a graph pattern for the NFL logo that I think I am going to make for the center of the afghan to pull it all together... that will be if I can figure out how to do the graph square. :)

Have not been doing a lot of crocheting at the moment... we (hubby and I) are currently working on the beginnings of a doll house for our granddaughter for Christmas. We made one for our daughter when she was almost 4 and put in a request for one for her daughter 4 years ago when she was born. This is the Christmas! We are planning the doll house together. Once we have the design, hubby will build then I will assist in the decorating. We went to one of the job sites that hubby works at and got a piece of carpet that was being throw away so we now have carpeting for the upstairs. I also have cork tiles for the kitchen and squares of wood flooring for the living room. We are discussing making a rooftop patio and adding a pool. I have asked around to see if I can get a small plastic dish (like the ones you get in the hospital that are sort of kidney shaped) to use for the pool. We are planning to make the roof flat (unlike the one our daughter had) and put fencing around to enclose it.

I am making furniture out of plastic canvas. I have a couch, end table, coffee table and kitchen table complete so far. Currently working on an entertainment center for the living room. I want to get 4 chairs, another table top, a bed and dresser also done to gift this year. It will be ongoing and she will get additional pieces in future holidays.

This is the picture of the dollhouse we made for our daughter... in 1992. It weighed close to 100 pounds when it was completed. I have another picture of her laying inside this dollhouse on the first floor in the living and dining rooms. If it were a better picture, you would see the couch, coffee table, end table, dining table and chairs and hutch that I made for her... also out of plastic canvas and the same patterns as the ones I am making her daughter, just different colors.

Hope everyone has a fabulous day!

Wow that Vikings square is super cool! What a great idea for a swap.

That doll house looks like a huge project. My oldest granddaughter is a real girly girl and she would love something like that. However, I don't think we are that ambitious. Great job!

Try the short version. If nothing else go to givewithtarget.com, hit vote and put in Sunrise Elementary Chaparral, NM 88081 and it will bring us up.

I'm still not getting it. The site says, 'vote for sunrise elementary' but won't take my vote without my facebook information and I don't have facebook. Any suggestions? I suppose I could sign up for facebook, but I've heard of some bad experiences with it.

I voted for the school and posted it on my facebook and hopefully you'll pick up a few more votes from my friends!

Havent crocheted in a few days, its so blasted hot! And we've been splitting wood! That dreaded 4 letter word "snow" is just around the corner! I've been canning also getting some goodies ready for winter. Going to make some chow chow, never heard of it but found the recipe on the canning thread. Anyway, have a great night ladies and I'll check back later!
Cathy

Thank you so much for your votes! Kat you can vote once a week, it rolls over on Sundays. So if you vote today, you can vote again Monday, but then not until the next Monday. Alethea I've never had trouble with my Facebook and I've had it several years. Don't sign up just for us, I wouldn't ask that of you but I appreciate the thought. Cathy thanks for posting it for us!!! I need all the sharing I can get!

I haven't had any problems either but I am very careful. I don't even click on links that were supposedly sent by friends. My SIL had her identity stolen through FB and it was a horrible mess for her to deal with.
