WELCOME Beth & Diane to BYC and the New Crochet Swap!!!!

I have downloaded several 12" patterns from the website posted on an earlier post. There were a lot to choose from. I haven't found any rectangular ones yet but could make up my own. In fact I could take three smaller versions of the "granny" and join them and crochet around them. I could do the same with flowers too. It's fun to look for new patterns and think about what colors to do them in. I haven't thought of yarn yet. We'll have to make a trip to Lancaster sooner or later and can shop then if I don't order on line.
I haven't found too many rectangle patterns yet, but did stumble upon this that reminded me of you saying you could make a rectangle out of 2 small granny squares.

Can't wait to see what you come up with Betty! Your squares are always so beautiful!

Hi everyone!

My name is Beth and I'd like to join in. I'm new to chickens and to BYC, but I've been crocheting for 25+ years. I'm looking forward to picking out the patterns and getting started. I taught my co-worker to crochet and she's planning on signing up here in a bit--her name is Diana :) We'll be heading to WalMart later today!!
Hi Beth!!! So happy to see you decided to join us! Welcome!

Welcome Beth & Diana! Nice to meet you both!

This sounds like great fun, is there a thread that explains how it works or pics of afghans already made?

The first page of the thread explains what we are doing and the link below will take you to the last swap and page 110 post #1095 shows Alethea's afghan she made with the squares we got. I don't think anyone else has put all theirs together yet.

I've gotten some of the yarn and so far I've picked out six 12" squares and four 6" squares. I'm having a hard time making up my mind! :)
lol! Welcome to our world!

Here's a link to a finished blanket from the last swap (post 1095)... https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/598523/spring-granny-square-swap/1090 but there are a bunch of things you can make with granny squares. Vests, tote bags, slippers, belts... just search the internet for lots of ideas.

What happens is we take a couple of months (or however long the host/hostess wants) to sign up as many folks as we can. Signing up means you commit to make at least one square for each participant that signs up (although often a participant will do multiple sets, so you might make 2 squares for each person). At the end of sign-ups you have 2 months (in this swap anyway) to finish all your squares, or strips if doing the 6x12s. At that time we all mail our finished squares to the host/hostess (me in this case), in the most affordable way possible, including return postage. I will separate all the squares so that each person gets at least 1 square from each participant (more if they did multiple sets) and mail your box full of squares back to you.

Did I miss anything anyone?
