Sunflower seeds - a problem?

My flock eats BOSS. What am I looking for?

First it will be darker as you increase the proportion of BOSS. Secondly, upon drying it will be easier to handle as in not so sticky. Bulk density will be lower. Think of advantages that comes with that when using the feces as a component of compost or a soil amendment.

One season I had 12 birds. I think they were Marans. I threw one cup of BOSS into their coop once a day. They also had water feed and grit. Oh my the stunning beautiful feathers they had.
No health problems from the BOSS.

I've asked this same question.. black oil sunflower seeds...no question is dumb.

I will put this out there. My birds are on a maintenance ration for much of the year so I seldom try to get them to eat as much as possible. That enables feeding with feeds that have lower nutrient density. They will readily consume the empty BOSS shells as part of the mix. Feed intake appears to increase to compensate for the lower nutrient bulk.

then save that as a bookmarked page in your browser.
That's how I enter this site every time and the main 'base of operations' as it lists all threads you've subscribed to.
