The IMPORTED ENGLISH Orpington Thread

They seem to be pretty low prices to be trying to "make a buck".

I was actually talking about Ewesheep's comment, she said someone used a picture of one of her Faverolles in an auction.

Some of the auction's have low prices, others are a bit higher. To me it doesn't matter if you're making $1 or $100 if you're being dishonest about what you're selling then it's wrong.

Here's my comment and it may not mean anything to anyone but here it goes. " I have never seen an Imported English Orpington (only in pictures) except the pair that I bought from Jeremy as juveniles BUT now that they are growing up, it only takes me looking a little bit to know if birds listed on these sites are English Opringtons or just our regular Orpingtons which I have some of those also." I think there are enough good breeders of the real thing on here and they may be a little pricey but isn't it better to pay a little more and know what you are getting then go down the cheaper trail and end up with something that you would not be satisfied with in the end. When we think of what it cost for the original importer to get them here and what the first folks paid to get a start with them we still are getting a little bit of a bargain. As our country become more populated with them, the price will come down like anything else but until then get a good pair of trio and hatch some and enjoy them as I'm going to do. lol
Love my pair.

He does look big Kathy, how old is he? I like him.

It does look like he's trying to be anywhere but in front of your camera!

I'm happy that you love your pair. The pullet you have is VERY pretty, I can't wait to see her all grown up.

I can't remember off hand, but nearing a year old. Of the 6 I got from Joy, I had 4 males (2 black, 2 blue), and 2 females (1 splash, 1 black). I was undecided on which male to keep and finally decided on this one. I like the girls better. My old Fat Albert (black) is still my favorite male. I did keep one black male to pen with the Lavenders, too. Still, I like my Fat Albert the most though.

I know what you mean Kathy. I love my Neville. I hope to hatch out several Blue cockerels this year in hopes of holding one back to use as a breeder in the future, it's a happy and sad thought all at the same time. Neville has made some beautiful babies for me so far but I want to be able to produce Blacks, too. Eventually Neville will probably move to the layer flock, I'm worried he might squish some of my smaller girls though.

Hey Jeremy,
I posted back a few days ago, don't know if you saw it or not, but my little/big girl started laying Monday and has given me an egg every day since. I am setting some eggs Friday and whatever I have from her I'm putting them in there just to see if these are fertile. Post # 7707 check it out

I will try to get some of him tomorrow. I have mostly blacks, and wanted to keep a blue just to make more blues. I have tons of blacks..... in all sizes! I put the 2 smallest black girls in with the chocolates. We'll see how that goes.
