I do not know how I missed the post. Beautiful birds tazcat! What type of laced will you be working on? You are so lucky to pick from Julie's birds!! Gorgeous boys.
Thank you! Not that I can take any credit for it. I am so happy I have them.
I have started on blue laced reds. I have the F1, but they are with an American Orp. I am going to start another line in the Spring with the Orps from Julie over BLRW. I also hope to do gold and silver, gold will most likely be a by product of the blue laced red. Big dreams...but I am lucky to live close to Katy who has the best BLRW and SLW on BYC.
Kathy - Thanks for that post. Lots of good info there. I've copied and pasted it into a word document.
Tonya - Hope those two handsome fellows help your program out. Be sure and keep us updated with photos. I would like to see how Winston's boy turns out.
I have a color question. Do you all remember when I had the accidental hatching of Speckled Sussex and Blue Orp chicks, well out of those I have two black boys (I think they are boys anyway). One has white speckles on his chest the other is mostly all black. I noticed tonight that they not only have the green tone to their feathers but they also have purple and blue and a bit of purplish red. These colors look like they would be where the speckles should have been. I have never had black chicks from hatching before are these common colors for the blacks to have when they are young? I did bring in my 3 black roosters to have in the same light shine on them to see if maybe it was the florescent light in the barn, but they don't have the same colors they just have the green shine to them.
Tomorrow I'm going to take them outside and see if the colors show in the sunlight and hopefully get pictures of it. They are only 8 weeks old and don't stand still ever!
