The new (human) baby thread...

It's the teething doing it to him. I'd know when mine were getting teeth because of the horrible diaper rashes they'd get. With Ethan and his teething rashes I've been using Boudreauxs Butt Paste and it helps a lot as long as I keep him slathered in it, but nothing ever fixes those rashes except the teeth breaking through. Poor baby, I hope his teeth come in soon!

I've heard it's because their saliva is more acidic (for whatever reason), which causes the urine to be more acidic, diarrhea, breaking out around the mouth, etc.

did I mention I hate teeth? I do....
my little man still has his top right incisor just at the surface but not broken through and then he gets a cold = double cranky baby

He slept in his swing last night cause laying down got him all stuffy. the bottom teeth are getting big so he can no longer suck on my cheek like he used to...OUCH! Thank goodness I am not breastfeeding!

As long as the have a good latch than teeth are no problem breastfeeding. We have 4 on top and 3 on the bottom here and still breastfeeding.

ebwy - My youngest would always get diaper rashes - she was a terrible teether! I'd let her soak in the tub a couple of times a day -- it seemed to help! I know babies like peeing everywhere, but even if he was able to air dry after getting out of the tub for a couple of minutes seems to help, too.

When both of my girls were newborns -- within the first two weeks - they did develop, what I though was a diaper rash, but it was a type of yeast infection. The doctor gave me a script for it and it went away quickly.

Good luck -- I hope your little guy feels better soon!

I leave him naked on his lower half as much as I can, but I think a combination of medicated powder and the usual creams is the way to go.... at least he's happy in himself

thanks

Consider your daughter very fortunate! One of my cousin's little girls got a teething rash so bad that she actually bled from it! I babysat her for a day and I think it was almost as bad for me, trying to changer her without hurting her, as it was for her.

Does anyone use Gerber or Enfamil? I have a bunch of extra formula coupons, I'd much rather send them to someone who can use them versus letting them expire here

Let me know!

Edit: OH! And I have one Similac...
