I am originally from Texas and now live in MD mountains and I can tell you the difference in the cold here is not even nice. Winter is not my favorite season here.

HOW do all of you Northies (and Southies according to Ralphie) live your best life in the cold? How?? My hands are frozen. I've been inside for 10 minutes and still can't warm up.

You get used to it Though I can't say I enjoy it when it's below zero.

Temps are finally thinking about heading above freezing here. Tomorrow it's supposed to get into the mid-30's.

They are probably our most common and widely spread species. We have had mobs in the thousands hop through. They are really good breeders. There were some around the fires but most heavy populations are around the cropping areas which aren't really where fires were.

I had no idea they were that plentiful. Have you tried the meat?

I have. I think I was 6 when I first tried it at a bush tucker day at school. It's a very rich meat, but not gamey. And its packed with all the good stuff. They are probably like deer are over there but do less damage to fences because they just jump over.

Do y’all have open hunting on them like they do for game here.

You can hunt them anytime of year, but the number you can cull is limited, and mothers and children are no goes. There's also professionals you can hire.
