How's the creek doing up there? Is it still dry? We are supposed to get rain today but it's just messing with me right now. I'd like to get back to building while it's still cool outside, but the rain keeps coming and going. It's just a sprinkle too, but enough I'm not running power tools. :(

So one of the ducks here is laying a blue tinted egg. It's not dark enough to show up in pictures though. When I started finding them I thought they where dirty, but in the sun you can see the blue. It's pretty darn big too, maybe the largest here.

Runners can lay blue eggs, right? You need to find that duck and breed her! 😍

Morning all!

So, I think I've figured out a cheap way to expand my coop. All this time I've been thinking of building onto the side of the coop so we can double our space, but obviouly that would take a lot of materials, a roof addition, etc. BUT! I was standing outside yesterday looking at how I could do this on the cheap, and it hit me, DUH! Convert the small 8x10 covered run into additional coop space. It's already framed out, the roof is already there, a door, dirt floor with hardware cloth skirt underneath, it's perfect! All we need is 6 sheets of matching wood panel and I already have the paint. Boom, double the coop size.

And on that note, I may have panic bought 20 something chicks from Papa's Poultry. They hatch on the 7th.

Good morning Bob. :highfive:
:frow Good morning Chris, have a great day

Actually, you can somewhat see the color here. It's still not really "blueish" though... Blue eggs are one of my favorites, but they show so poorly in pictures.
I do need to figure out who it is. :)

That's great!

No judgement here on chicks. I've legit lost count on how many birds I have... Just in ducks there are 39 ranging from young to adult... We all know I have more that 11 chickens, so just using the default "I've got 50" answer doesn't work anymore.
(There's about 30 chicken between both normal flocks and ~40 chicks)
:oops::oops:🤫🤫🤫

Holy moly! You have been building a ton of coops though, right?

I almost turned the spare 12x12 goat stall into a coop, but decided that was more work than it was worth, and then I'd have to have two separate flocks of chickens and the 2nd flock would be in with the goats, which presents a whole different set of challenges. I'm trying not to spend a whole lot of money on any farm projects, but we desperately needed more space for future laying hens. About half the chicks I ordered from Papa's Poultry are either olive egger pullets or cream leg bar pullets. The rest are marans (lavender and BBS) and assorted orpington colors.

I also 20ish cream legbar and auto sexing olive egger eggs in my incubator that are due next week... send help. Lol!

Happy Sunday y'all!

Morning ya’ll! It is a beautiful sunny warm day in Illinois and finally a day off for me so yard work all day it is! Haha Going to try and figure out a drainage system for a duck pool too so that should be fun... or not... Hope everyone else has a nice COVID19 free day!

Saw an interesting design on youtube a while back. Was for geese, but would work. Guy mounted a 50 gallon (I think) stock tank on a wagon tilted slightly forward, had a 2" line coming out of the front with an electric valve and a long hose. He'd put the hose near his trees. The valve was on a solar powered timer and he had it timed well enough that it would empty and rinse, before refilling. He had a float valve in the back of the tub.
