Ha, I've hatched a dozen batches and I still chew my nails bloody every time. They take soooo long to come out.

And you like it?! It’s not so much the wait as it’s the first time I think. I’ve hatched plenty of chickens and quail, but ducks are new. I got 13 eggs and only 2 developed so if if these don’t hatch I’m going to be sad! I have another dozen coming though.

I've only hatched ducks but I understand they take much longer than chickens. Some of mine were over 50 hours from pip to hatch. I got up every hour or so at night to stare at them. My current batch is three weeks old. Think ill wait till spring before I go again.

I feel like shipped runners are sensitive. I had poor luck with 5 out of 2 dozen hatch. Yet 10 out of 1 dozen pekin hatched from same place, same shipment. I hope the next dozen does better for you, and the 2 now make it

I eat what i get.. I never pose with them. As of so far today, I will be on a diet.

Also it is interesting to see what others consider normal isn’t it?

This is a midday photo of the swamp. Without snow. That might be returning Tuesday.

The brown trees are Tamarack. They are kind of different, pine tree or cedar tree needles but they turn brown over winter and green up in Spring.

The leafy trees in the foreground are pin oaks.

Bad news!! You don’t get hens from Dux eggs. Hens come from chicken eggs. Dux eggs get you terrorist!
