That level of sewing is way beyond me... Just watched a vid in another thread I hang out on about quilting patterns. I find what folks do with quilts just amazing.

I put it in my watch list, so maybe one day. I brought some mallard print fabric to make a basic quilt. I too am amazed at peoples quilting skills but alls I can do is sew straight lines together. I wish I'd gor to know Sumi, she seemed wonderful

I wouldn’t say “exceptional” when it comes to my quilting. “Experienced” is more accurate. I started quilting back in 1972, before the craze for all things historical hit with America’s Bi-Centennial in 1976. It was an impulse, and one to this day I’m glad I had. Our local library in San Diego had just a couple of books on quilting and both of them were way old - they even smelled musty! So I’m completely self-taught. Back in the early days of on-line communication, I used to host a “Hints, Tips, and Tricks” chat room on AOL. I think that was in 1994, and I hosted it until 1997 or early 98.

I’d be happy to help with questions if I can. I sure don’t know it all and never will. I will say that I hate piecing. I’m not sure if I stink at it because I hate it or if I hate it because I stink at it. I do it, but I don’t enjoy the process. My true quilting love is the hand quilting so I love to do whole cloth quilts and Broderie Perse. I know I couldn’t do anything as adorable as the stuffed ducks!!

I think there’s a few quilting threads (pun not intended) on here somewhere, or used to be. It was @speckledhen who started one of them, I believe. A search should bring them up.

I am a beginner for reals. I muddle my way through and do skill builder type quilts. I can help with some stuff but a lot is still beyond my hands capabilities.
