thanks for asking I have been so so so busy the past few days I am barely able to get online but I wanted to post a question in the goose section and ask are there any other vitamins i can give him to help his legs besides the b complex? should i get a tube of horse selenium ? vitamins e maybe? anything else?
i’ve been wondering if he’s in pain or not the cries that he makes when he’s walking I think they’re normal Gosling sounds ? i think that because when Trudy is nearby She doesn’t seem distressed by them. I’ve been watching him a lot sitting outside now. I have a little outdoor covered pen safe from hawks or crows and mom and dad can sit nearby . frankie does a lot of sitting down to rest. i wonder does that mean there is pain.?It seems possibly out of frustration trying to walk from the water to the food and he can’t get in the little swimming bowl unless he falls in and almost drowns , so he gives up trying and lays down. so I’ve been watching carefully, really hoping that when his wings grow, he will use them to help himself get around. I don’t know. I keep crying when I think about the possibility of his quality of life being poor enough that I would need to put him down because that would be so hard he’s a fuzzy little baby that loves snuggles 🥰View attachment 3852060
Those pictures are so precious. I wonder if when Frankie is outside is there a way to use a boot on him to protect his foot? As for if he is in pain. I don't know that answer. He looks to be growing well, does he eat well? I usually base my thoughts on how is the duck or goose or chicken acting around the others is it off its feed and just plain isn't interested in life. Seeing Trudy and dad looking on is so special. If you have one of those rubber feed bowls I bet Frankie would like that to play in. My gander when he was tiny like Frankie would climb into those rubber bowls and have a blast didn't have to be deep just so long as he could get in it.

yes, he loves to eat ! and when the ducklings run across the room that I have them in now he runs with them. He seems better at running than walking. I’ve been looking around to see if I have anything shallow. Maybe I’ll find some thing in my garage or one of my sheds, the bowl that’s in there now is pretty shallow.. but Maybe I could dig it down into the earth or something. I’m also trying to figure out how to configure a boot or a supportive foot wrap.

my 1 month old ancona seems to have a tiny bit of crest lol

Sorry I've been on holiday. My gander was an ahole to the bird sitter. Don't know if shell come back. I forgot to remind her of the broom of death. She says he was a snake. Also everything in my garden got over grown. The cukes got to big to pickle. The cantelope fell off the vine. So much rain the birds are up to their ankles in muck.

My two Rouen Ducklings that are now 7 weeks old are acting rather strange. I have never had Rouen ducklings this old and got them as 3 day old ducklings from TSC. They are staying to themselves and not bothering any of my hens. If these were Mallard ducklings which I have raised many times over, they would be chasing my hens all over the place. They have the green sheen on their heads, no quacks, green big bills and I am sure they are drakes by no quacks yet but wonder why they are being so isolated and leaving all of my hens alone? They have pointed tails like Hens yet are dark on their tail ends with green sheen in spots. I am not complaining as I have found a home for them at the end of July but wondering if there is any way possible they are not drakes???? No quacks but strange sounds at times that are hard to describe.

If they are still peeping they are drakes. Hens would be quacking at this age. Its not unusual for young ducks to make their own flock within A flock.
Yes you are right about that, I was just wondering why they are not chasing any of my females around. My Mallards did at 6 weeks and sometimes even younger. I am happy that they are not, don't get me wrong, just surprised. Rouen ducks must be late bloomers, lol.
