A'pollo and Nugget are having a slumber party in the bathroom tonight. I was sitting there rubbing them earlier and they both just passed out. They are so peaceful, I about knocked out myself!

Welcome to erlectro swing!Today was and interesting day to say the least. For starters, the drip tray set up is working well with the babies. It's not stopped all those fluffy little butts from making a mess, but much less water.
One of the best collaborations of new and old music brought together to make the
body want to move.
Oh how I yurn for swing dance to make a comeback!
I went on a bit of a nature walk today at a local pond/lake. There where about 12 ducks there including 3 juvies. This pond is only about 15 feet from a heavily trafficked road with average traffic doing 50 mph. Now, this trip had nothing to do with me almost running over a Muscovy in the middle of the road yesterday.
Nor did I have any plans to do anything about it...
I was just going to sit there and watch them die to traffic, cause that's what people do here (FL) I guess.
Never would I place my own morals over those I pay my taxes to...
They know what is best.
That being said I did not bring home any more animals. Today...
Long story short, the ducks are wild, and I was informed they have been going there for about 6 years. I did happen to find their human friends that live off the lake. By the time I left, I was much happier to learn the ducks normally did not hang out on that lake. There is a private lake in the neighborhood that is much larger, with very little traffic. Apparently one of the Mrs. Scovy's made a nest near the road this year, and they have just been staying on that side only as of recent. If I had to guess, it's the one I about hit. When I whizzed past it, it didn't even spook.

I got to see my first Black Belly Whistler today. There where 4 of them there, and I absolutely feel in love with them. Such beauty, bold colors, with an absolutely elegant profile shape. Their shape reminded me of a swan. The neck and head where just so streamlined. I felt lucky to see them there. I've got no clue if they are rare, but I didn't even know about them till today. The pictures are not the best, but they stayed a healthy distance from me.

This is looking at the road from the lake side. In the right side, just past the large tree reflection I found another nest that had a bunch of broken eggs. Right next to the eletric pole on the left is where Momma Scovy had her nest. Any ideas why these birds would make a nest so close to traffic when there is ample room in safer places? The land I'm standing on here is county, and plenty of it behind me. Plus the other lake I mentioned which is about 3x the size of this one (about 1/2 the pond shown here).

What do you get when you cross a chicken with a cow?
The lake is also busy this time of year with boats and jet skis.

Thanks Bob, and a good mornin to you too!Morning folks
Pretty birds Chris.![]()
About 6 years ago I lived on a lake that had Wood ducks every year. It's such a pretty bird. That is so neat! I live on the lake, but we don't have any wild Muscovies in my area (middle Georgia). There is a flock of what we think are ring necks that visit for a few days in our cove when they are migrating. We also have some diving type ducks and I think I have seen a wood duck before, and several mallards. I haven't seen any recently though; I guess it is the time of the year. We also have duck hunters that like to come in our cove during duck seasonThe lake is also busy this time of year with boats and jet skis.
