It's still doing okay I think. The missing shell area should be large enough for it to push out of. It's still active and reasons to being touched/picked up on the shell.

I dread breeding season. had problem with the American bullies beating up on Fred I had to put Fred and Ethel in the hospital pen this was last year . I am watching them like a hawk. we already got 2 inches of rain today and it is thundering all day. more rain still to come can I scream yet.lol.

Well the chick is out but a small portion of the abdomen did not close. It's about the size of a pencil lead. It's been a little trucker about it though. I'm wondering when I should put or under momma hen.

No not till belly is closed up. Once closed place chick in your hand and slip it under her so she doesn’t see it. Works best at night.

I just checked it again and it's almost closed. I'll wait till tomorrow night and slip it in there. It looked to just be in a bad position (in the egg) in general, and besides the abdomen it looks to be developed just fine.

Correction... I'm going to give it a few more hours and do it tonight. With it getting dark so early, I thought it was much later than it is. Of course that pending how the abdomen is doing.
