Good morning everyone :frow Sorry haven't been on all week. Olly still won't get better :barnie The infection is gone for certain, but he can't use his leg. We think when my muscovy drake mounted him with the way his leg had been stuck it broke or got sprained in that position? Point is he's healthy, but can't walk. His foot is twisted back and the poor fella is in a cage half the day since he scrapes it on the ground and cuts it, we don't need another infection. Not sure what to do now, we're trying to find some old fencing so we can just put it around the swamp and let him swim, also I don't want the muscovies getting him. Oh, happy 2020 Y'all!

Good Morning!! I hope your hen is okay this morning Both of them Chris.
I had a small cochin bantam get caught of some fly sticky thing I had hanging from the ceiling in their coop . I would have never thought she'd fly that high but yep went in that evening to count heads and there she hung by one wing. :hmm
Sorry for the late response Patti. Mary came in the livingroom and informed me I had 15 minutes to get my coffee. I ran out of the door like a madman. ;)

She has made it through the night! It's pretty chilly here today, thinking of leaving her inside to be safe. She's got some fight in her thankfully.

We've already got eggs with external pips! At least 2 of the Marans! That means Annie's eggs will be hatching in a few days too! If you can't tell from the !!!, I'm excited! :D

Hiya Kendra, and happy 2020 to you too! :celebrate:frow:celebrate:frow:celebrate

I don't know how long it takes a duck bone to heal, but maybe it was his leg got broke and the bone set that direction. Is it still tucked up and behind him? I don't really know what you could do, but you've got my support. :hugs

Thank you. We're just going to care for him as you would a disabled pet. supervise him, etc. Hopefully it does heal as the infection has been gone for at least 2-3 weeks now.

I did pick up the trio yesterday, but i was so busy I didn't take pictures. As soon as I got home, I had to repair the quarantine pin that I didn't know needed repairing. It was getting dark and I just forgot pics. :(
Oh, they are wonderful though. The lacing is brown on gold and it's very artistic. I did get a pic if the GL Wyandotte for comparison though.

I've decided since I'm make an indoor/outdoor pin, I might as well extend it a bit in both directions, and split it in 2 separate pins. I'm not 100% sure what breed to put in there though. My choices would be 55 Flowery, FGC Marans, Mille Fleur D'uccle, or Phoenix. The Phoenix are a heritage breed so that gives them priority, but it depends on how the hatch goes. The 55f get a bit of priority too, but that's just because I really that breed.

I'll grab some pictures of the new birds when I get a chance. Mary went back to work today so I've got to get back on schedule here, ughh.

Anywho, chat with you folks soon!

Kendra best you can do is limit his movements and make sure he doesn't injury his leg any worse. Dragging it can cause wounds and worsen what is already going on. Poor guy def needs to be kept away from the other drakes they will def take advantage of one of their own wounded or sick.

Mrs Black is not doing any better this morning. She is eating and drinking, but she seems even more lame today. She did have some mucus on the roof of her mouth. I didn't see it yesterday because I used the ND before remembering to check. I tried to relive it with a q-tip but was not able to. She started fighting me pretty hard and I don't want to stress her more than needed at the moment. When I put her back in the crate she was breathing pretty hard. She did eat and drink afterwards though and her breathing went back to normal.

He's in a separate cage. His brother and the mallard go out in the day and sleep with him at night or he'll stand by the garage door and quack his head off. He's protective of his small flock. The muscovy drake def has taken advantage of him, almost drowned him 2 weeks ago. Also question, everytime he's in water, he gets SOAKED. Not sure why.
