I wish I knew who did it, they'd go to freezer camp too. I suspect it was either the cuckoo Marans or my recently unruly Tom. Both would make a wonderful soup stock.

When you put Ebby back with the others, did you need to reintegrate her over time?

Actually I kept her in a crate when everyone was inside at night and she had the run of the coop during the day time. That way she was still with everyone but protected. But in Fla you best watch for flies if you still have them this time of year.

The flies and gnats have been picking up here quite a bit recently. Skeeters too. For the time he'll just remain inside. I'm going to order a diaper for him today, something I never thought I'd do. I'm going to give him at least a week inside for the skin to heal some before putting him back out.

Good idea and once you can put the blue kote on him that will help keep anything from laying eggs in his wound. Poor thing he may have started something he couldn't finish. Or someone was just being a bully. Do you have a game camera outside? I do believe Adam most likely started the fighting with the Cochin and they just got the best of him. Those little things are too feisty for their own feathers.

I don't have a camera out there but it's not a bad idea. He could have started it. The Marans boy (not Sully) has been trying to climb ranks, and I wouldnt be surprised if he did it. He's been apita since I got him.
