Oh those boys.

I have lights that are solar they have 3 settings so you can have them turned off an only come on hen activated then there is a setting where they stay on low and come on when activated I bought them off Amazon I love them. They hopefully will startle a predator enough when they come on to scare them off. Makes me feel alot better having them out around my coops. These lights have LED lights in them and they are bright when they come on.
The predators appreciate the lights coming on while they eat. It makes it so much easier to pick around the nasty stuff and bones.

And here’s a good article on the Coywolves and a PBS documentary on it.

They are not still interbreeding AFAIK. It was over 100 years ago due to some extenuating circumstances and now they’ve been pretty established for a while. They are also part dog and quite successful.

Here’s a more detailed article explaining their DNA breakdown and how most scientists now just consider them a subspecies, Eastern Coyote, rather than “coy wolf” or any of the other flashy names, but either way... they have quite a bit of wolf and dog in them.

Here is another article on the eastern wolf and the red wolf. This one says a coywolf is a hybrid of them.

Whomever asked about our wolves, we have Grey wolves. As the article points out.

Grey wolf is a misnomer they vary greatly from brown to grey, black to white with reddish tints.

Good evening all!

Today was super busy between outside projects and stuff at my son's school. They put together an open house/culture night thing for parents and more likely to impress prospective new families that are thinking of sending their kids to the school. Lots of the the band kids played songs on various instruments, it was cute. My son played a song on piano (he takes piano lessons at school.) He's in the band too, but plays the trombone and he's way better at piano, so yeah. :gig

I'm way behind... but I saw some more posts about Florida man stuff. Y'all simmer down with your Florida aspirations. We already have enough crazies 'round these parts.

Also...

What is this? Any ideas? I was running through the cameras a little bit ago and saw this dude skulking around behind the coop (aka The Gettin' Killed Spot.) He 100% can't get in, but I can't figure out what it is. Too big to be a possum? Doesn't look like it has a tail but I can't really tell for sure. Maybe a raccoon?

I was thinking opossum too, but I looked up pictures and thought it looked too big. I've never seen one in person, though, so maybe. For a second I thought it was one of our barn cats, but it came from the woods. My husband and son went out to see what it was - it ran and definitely was not our cat. We have big gopher turtle holes that I think random animals live in, so it would be anything, really.
