Looks to be a regular Ancona. :p
Hi there Kayla! Thanks for the info. I don't really care what color variations I get, but something a bit on the rearer side would be nice. I'm still holding on to hope that Terry is lavender. I don't even have a good reason to think so, it's pure hope. He and Violet the black runner are my favorites, just hoping the are the unique ones too. :cool:

@HuffleClaw
You have bunnies too?!
:eek:
Your avatar is so cute. I miss Thurgood, our black mini rex. I was cleaning his pen one day, and normally let him just hop around the yard while doing so, but something spooked him and he ran. That had happened a couple of times, and he would only be gone for 20ish minutes. I'd just leave his door open, and he would return, till one day he didn't. About 2 days later there was the scent of rotting meat. :hit

Thurgood was another surprise, well for my wife. I worked with a show breeder at the time, and Thurgood was just "some rabbit" she had and didn't want. I talked with my wife for about a week about getting a bunny, and just could not get her to agree it was be a good idea. I'm not saying she was wrong, I just didn't agree with her.

So around the 7th day of talking about it, she walked in and saw the little black fluff ball in the living room. Oh was she angrey. Then He decided he liked her more than I...Her anger did not last very long. Who can be upset when a fluff ball sleeps in your lap anyways?!

So can you have just one turkey @rjohns39 or does there need to be at least 2?
You want at least two and if only two, they need to be the same gender. Hens are best. I would suggest getting up to a half dozen and processing the Toms at 24 weeks or as soon as you can confirm they are Toms. Just to give you an idea of the eye candy factor...
These were my first batch.

Those are all beautiful. I don't know what color variation the Tom I met was, but I did write the owner yesterday and asked. (sadly I've not got an answer yet as that is what color I'd want) I would say he looked similar to the black/buff colored one to the left of center. His feathers had a very pretty translucent color when he would walk around. Though I am really liking the red/white birds. Are those the Bourbon Reds?

So in regards to types of turkey, is it basically broad breast and heritage?

If you have lots of time on your hands and want to see an abundance of eye candy visit porters site and see the different color varieties he's got. Don't get too hooked on any variety until you know it's one available without restrictions. https://www.porterturkeys.com/ If you hover over color variety you can click on each one and he'll generally have pictures of the poults and adults. He's also got one of the best turkey genetics calculators out there.
