They are cuties. I had 2 father an son and couple months ago a hawk got the dad.

Blue Isbar eggs came in today. No extra eggs, but also no brown eggs. 
Exciting about the eggs! Thanks about Little Joe I am sure he died protecting his hens . He was just no match for a hawk.

Are APA standards available without having to buy their handbook? I've been to their website a few times and find it difficult to navigate and the software to be outdated. If they are available could someone pretty pretty please post a link to them.
Also, is there a point to having a membership if you are not showing birds? The "members benefits" page doesn't give me much of a reason to want to give them money.
Maybe I'm just confused, but when reading at the livestock conservancy, they refer to the APA a lot, leaving me to think it's a wealth of information. Then when I go to their site, it's one big money sink, and a frustrating one to navigate at that. The APA obviously holds value...

The younger Pekin female had 2 black feathers when I got her. I've read about some drake's getting one black feather near the rear which she had, but one on her head also. She's a for sure a she too, quacking/honking relativity loud. I just figured she was not pure Pekin.
Yesterday I was inspecting the Pekin and come to find out, her head feather is not just black (normally it's under white feathers). Also I couldn't find the butt feather to save my life. None of this really matters, but I thought I'd share it anyways.

Morning! I have read of others saying their Pekins had a black feather on them various places. Watch to see if she molts it out. They sure look pure Pekin.
