Lol, I even suggested selling the mower
See it should have been a SURPRISE!!
Better to ask forgiveness than permission right? :highfive:

Hehe. That's how I got half of my flock! Last time I said something like "But hun, they're so cute. Did you hear that chirp? It's like a kitty with feathers." I got THE look. Then I did it again, and I got THE look and THE speech.

I'm not sure what she'd do this time. I've already asked about pigs and more chickens this week. Although I will admit, sometimes I ask just to give her a razzing.

I know you don’t want to hear but if nothing else looks off then most likely failure to thrive. Very sorry Chris.
I can accept that answer. It's at least something I understand. Thank you.

After the summer I figured it was best to just have a little bit emotional reserve when it comes to chickens. It still took a bit of wind out of my sails, but I'm trying not to become to attached, at least at this point.

How's your morning going so far Patti?
Those OEGB are already gone! All 17. :(
I was going to get 2 to replace the Silkies which another member has shown interest in. You don't see OEGB available around here very often, but those were by far the prettiest ones I've seen of any of them. I guess there's always next time.

It's hard not to get attached especially when you watch them hatch. But sometimes well most of the time things are just out of our hands. But you have a nice addition to your flock. Do you put any Nutri drench in their water first couple of weeks? I just feel it gives them a better start.
That's good the OEGB went fast, I like to hear they got a good home, Sorry you weren't it though. But hopefully one of these days you'll have that opportunity again. I love mine they are very independent, great mamas and make me think this is what the Jungle fowl were like. Ever seen the Key west chickens? My Rufus looks like he'd fit right in.

Morning folks :frow

X2 so sorry Chris. I've lost four in the same way. Seems every hatch has a few.
Mornin Bob.

Sometimes I'm amazed at how many of the chicken puns, or actually true. For instance don't count your eggs until they hatch. That's true

I have 1 live bird and 6 eggs. I only want 3-4 in the end, but the cash toll is adding up and I'd prefer to not need more eggs to get the 3-4 birds.

I've not been using Nutridrench, but will start adding. How long do you normally give it to the chicks for?

My problem when I see people say "it just happens" is I don't find that to be true. I know a failure to thrive might not seem like much more of an answer, but it is an acceptable cause of death. Now if someone where to say a failure to thrive just happens, that I can also understand. Dying just to die though (just happening) doesn't make much sense to me.

I didn't know about the KW chickens yet. I just watched a short video about it though. That's pretty neat! I bet Rufus would love it there. ;)

Have you been down there before? I went when I was 19 and have wanted to live there this entire time. I just fell in love with the ease of life there. I love the market they have there. Not to forget the deer! :)

For those who don't know about "the market" everything must be hand made on the island for it to be sold there. The amount of unique things you can find is just amazing. I'm not a big cigar smoker, but I do appreciate them time to time, so seeing all the people rolling them was fascinating to me too. One lady I watched and talked to for close to 2 hours. I found it to be like an art.
