The Quack Shack

Hi Bob how’s your week been?
It's been good Patti how about yours? Chris, you should check out Tyler Florence's cookbook for baby food ;) I used it a lot for my Granddaughter until she started eating table food.

I think A'pollo just started a multi house animal reaction.
^^wrong message, oops! :) ^^
So about that. A'pollo let out a crow, and the rest of the boys here started in. Then the neighbors cock started crowing, and another's dog barking. Them the Tweedle twins AKA my dogs joined in. At least 6 birds and 3 dogs... I hope nobody between us was sleeping.

We went to go see the Scovies again yesterday. There was only about 8 when we first got there, but within 10 minutes there was an easy 50 birds. Egrets galore too! I almost had an Egret eat from my hand.

This was one of my favorites. It was much more reserved than the one taking food from my hand. The simple coloring just gives it an elegant look in my opinion.

Last pic of a beautiful female. How many did you bring home? I'd be so sad to leave them. They all need a special loving home.
Well, I have not brought any home, yet. I did have a talk with Mary about how they are the quackless duck while we were there. She enjoyed them quite a bit, and did comment how much quieter they are.

I'd love to give that blue/gray lady a home. Do domestic ducks and scovies normally get along okay? Would having just 1 scovey be okay, or would I still need a pair?

Mine too and being 5 acres away helps. I be that was some chorus Chris!
Thankfully my neighbors like the bird noises. :D
Nobody here seems to care, though nobody really talks about it either. I'll go out on a limb though and say I likely have the most cockerels though. There's 2 Seramas, and 3 large fowls, all hitting the full 5 notes. The Seramas are really shrill and the loudest, the Umbra has a pretty low dinosaur sound, and the Dampieres are somewhere in the middle. One thing that's neat is I can tell them all apart. My favorite is Umbra by far. His sound still travels a decent distance, but it's not ear piercing.

We live on the end of a dead end, in the back of the "hood", on county land. One of the neighbors 2 block away has his own shooting range, and another fella 2 blocks the other way has a freaking cannon, a real cannon. By the way, I'm jealous of them both, but chickens are much cheaper than cannons! Neither of those guys are out there just going ham on the live fire, but I don't think the crowing is much of an issue.
