So good new, bad news..

The reason I didn't pick up the jubilee rooster is because he sneezed right when we went to get him from the coop. The breeder agreed to treat him, and I could pick him up this following week. The bad news is he is not responding to the meds at all. He and his brother are in quarantine, and neither the breeder nor myself want him here, sadly.

The good news though is I'll still be doing a purebred Eng Orp bedding project this coming year. She felt bad and made me a replacement/upgraded offer. She has a mmf trio of Golden Laced, and offered me a nice discount. The picture in the ad doesn't serve them justices in my opinion, but here it is.

I will admit I like jubilee color better, but using the GL genetics does something interesting with the lavendar genetics. When using the online color calculator (so this might not be right) it say GL x Lav gives 100% black split to lavendar with no lacing. Using the GL crossed to any other color hen I have gives some strange jumble of colors with incomplete lace & 1/2 spangled. Longer story shorter, it opens a long term lavender breeding project.

I go pick up the trio tomorrow.
