We've got a cup baby. It's yolk was not quite absorbed yet, so it's just chilling in a jelly jar. Something I live about these Houdan's is that everyone was born with a bad hair day lol.

It wouldn't be contingent on the sale, just an option with a small convenience fee. Patti briefly touched on teachers not being prepared with homes, this gives them an option to just bring them back. If they choose to do a free rehoming, that would be prefered, but if I'm going to quarantine/feed/grow out & rehome the ducklings for them (yes at a profit) then I think $1 per bird is fair.

The teachers I've dealt with have been from my craigslist's ad, not my son's school. I think it would be great if they have that option, but that would be up to them to plan out.

They get the egg half off, and pay the other half to return the hatchling. Currently I'm in the hole for $48 with "selling" eggs, and agreed to take 1 batch back as my own responsibility. I'm just trying to find a good middle ground for everyone. I still get paid and they don't have to stress rehoming babies.

Ah, I see. That sounds like a good plan, then.

Though honestly, any teacher that's doing an incubation project with their class and they haven't figured out where those babies are going after the hatch, they probably shouldn't be hatching eggs in the first place. Growing up, my husband's little brother had a single chicken for like 7 years because of a school incubation where the kids each took "their" chick home. I'm sure most of those chicks didn't make it a month...

I think that's a good consideration for anyone to have. That whole "decrowed rooster" fiasco thread was due to Piss Poor Planning. You never want to get caught up in the triple P. That's how you get the Chief Chicken Choker on your thread. Triple P gets ya a triple C.

This is true!

I'm using that from now on. I just went up to my husband and asked him if he'd ever been caught in a Triple P situation. I'm sure he's over my nonsense.
