Okay guys, how do I cure puppy fever? I'm not generally a dog person (they are cute but cats are easier) but hounds have won me over ten fold.

Start with one. Potty training might break you of wanting a second.

Go visit a humane society or someplace with puppies and see if they will let you play with them for a while. that could make you or break you once you remember how much work they are and how much energy they have.
