The Quack Shack

Morning, evening everyone. Today is rescue the overmated hen day. Stupid drake. Wonder if I can give him back. Cayuga eggs are All infertile. At least its garbage day. I thought all three geese eggs were good, but today I think only two. This is going to be my worst hatch ever.

The boys need to step up their game
I got the eggs from a friend. We thought they were fertilized by a crested Pekin drake I gave him. But I will dispose of them today. I was looking forward to Pekin/Cayuga.

Considering no dux are hatching, I would say it’s a good hatch, of course, hatching geese does subtract from the good part.

However, if you look at pure numbers, I have done worse. I accidentally shut the temp probe in the door of my incubator, which caused the temp to skyrocket, resulting in a zero egg hatch.

and these were all good chicken eggs!

My last hatch was 100%. Next hatch looks like 5 of7, on infertile, one questionable. This group was 4 cayugas and 3 geese. Threw the Cayuga out the morning, infertile. Two geese developing, one questionable. I thought I was a hatching maven but have been seriously humbled.
