Progress!!

I have a fawn and White Runner who almost all the time doesn't quite know where she is. She usually hangs out on the fringe of the flock and aot of times is by herself. She is 4 yrs old and has done this most of her life. Don't tell the others but she is my fav. maybe because she is a little different.
My poor little fawn and white lost her sister who survived shipment [where we lost 2] when she was just a year old to egg binding so she is my only F/W and I think that maybe why Snoop isn't too fond of her she looks different than the other females.
Like my Mr. Limpy: He is the only survivor of his hatching/buying group, my first ducks ever. Always at the fringe of the flock but also in the center because nobody likes to mess with the old man. He is and always will be my favorite drake, the only drake that eats out of my hand, to the amazement of all the other drakes. Maybe that' what's earning him so much respect? 🤔

My two that I bought together are thick as glue. You never see one without the other in the pen and the same is with the 4 month old ducklings. Funny how they stick together with their hatch mates.
Egg-Yolk is thicker than water! - I raised two White Layers together with ten Fawn and White Runners and they are as thick as possible. These two White Layers are even looking different from all the others i have. Much more slender and more upright, they even try to run like the Runners. (Which makes them look like huge white puffy slippers on legs...😂)

The wild ones here are fairly big, and tough as nails. I hit one last fall with the truck and it went rolling over the hood, windshield, and roof, and when I stopped to see if I'd gotten a free Thanksgiving dinner, it was nowhere to be seen!

Oh well, meat probably would have been just as tough. ;)
There's nothing that cannot be fixed with a pressure cooker! 😜
Here, when i see the wild Turkeys run, i feel reminded to the Road Runner from Looney Tunes. They stick their heads and tails out horizontally and dash through thick and thin.

I was sitting in the coop yard in the wet muck, with a slow drizzle raining down on me, holding a precious little duckling who was more than happy to snuggle into my hand. And eat the mosquitoes!

Absolutely hilarious to watch these tiny little things jump and snatch the annoying bloodsuckers out of the air! Or off my arm or pant-leg.
Well, i am still the axe-murderer for Buffzilla's ducklings 😢 - But she got much more used to be touched by me, today she was growling when i rubbed her forehead. - Right before remembering that she should have hissed at me… 😂

Our development is very old and there will never be any HOA. We are blessed by that. We are not in town but in an old development that was always referred to as Little WV, please don't take that personally. I have had a Pot Belly Pig here and a few streets over used to have a horse! I have lived out here for 50 years and no one has ever bothered me. I was on the Board of Zoning Appeals for our Township for 30 years! lol I am Blessed by where I live and love it here for that reason. I would never buy a house with a HOA as I like my freedom too much. We are outside of town in a Township and that is why we don't have to worry as much.
The area where i lived was older too (founded in 1990) but it had an HOA and it all depends on who is running that HOA! - They forced me to repaint my house and then threatened me with ridiculous fees for choosing the wrong colour. I used the paint that was on the list of approved paints (they had a list of approved paints, get that!) and didn't took into account that fresh approved paint looks different from five year old approved paint.
Luckily i had legal insurance and a cool attorney who let them run into the open knife in court, so they had to cough up my attorneys fees and a lump sum for my "emotional damages". Basically they paid my moving cost to WV.
I'd walk away from a palace if it comes with an HOA!

My friend used to eat them, Ground Hogs, Possum and anything else just about that moved. Squirrels and turtles too. I would just about gag when he would tell me the stories of everything they ate growing up. lol
Like me, when i heart the stories of the Hillbilly neighbors here about squirrel-stew and roadkill-BBQ. I just feed the 'coons to the Turkey-Vultures. - Thought about learning how to butcher them and turn them into jerky for the ducks as extra protein and satisfaction for all their sisters and brothers that have been killed by raccoons. But - butchering is a dirty business and the cat-food is not that expensive.

I meant he ate the raccoons, not the turkeys. Turkey and Chicken are the only meat that I eat.
Oh, i have tried so many different kinds of meat, most of them taste either like beef, pig, deer or chicken with the exception of Alligator an Crocodile, they taste like muddy chicken. Always wanted to try Texas hose-steak but never made it to Sweetwater.

What in the world is Texas hose-steak? I am imagining a garden hose being cooked up to look like a piece of steak! LOL
