@shawluvsbirds Congratulations on such a beautiful plot of land! Everybody will enjoy the quite and peacefulness of the countryside after settling in. Love the Duck Gates!
Thank you. We have 5 acers, and of course the huge school house building too. And the best part is the sale of the house in town paid it off.

So, that's how the duckling's foot was looking this afternoon:

In the meantime, a lot has happened:
  • Tweedledee Duck and her ducklings were attacked by a young bird of prey, i heart her screaming and everybody ended up under the duckling ramp... I was outside in a few seconds and whacked that bop with a broom. Sadly it escaped and flew away screaming. Amazingly Tweedledee as well as her ducklings got away without any visible injuries. 😰 She is still afraid of me, but a little less, i can get as close as 2m (~7') before she starts to throw 💩 at me.
  • Mr. Peaduck went missing. Last time i saw him was for breakfast 🤔
  • The white duck of the incubator gang showed up with blood all over the left side of her body. 😲 Picked her up and examined her and fortunately there wasn't any wound on her body. All i could find was a wound on her wing that looked like a feather has been ripped out. it was no longer bleeding but she was in pain, so i applied one drop of tatoo-spray (Lidocaine @Luv Ducks ). You could really see her brightening up when the pain went away and she snuggled with me for a brief moment.
  • I took a nap with the little duckling sleeping under my hand on my chest, Karen Duck woke us up when she wanted to complain at the manager about the insufficient amount of cat-food that was handed out today. In need to keep the back-door closed in the future...
  • During our nap the little duckling had pooped a lot - fortunately there was a wash-cloth between us. 😜
  • It also managed to burst that blister and was in pain, so i applied the antibiotic-creme with pain killer, which helped within minutes.
  • The - hopefully - last duckling in the CCI had hatched and was crying for company
  • They both spent some quality time together in a laundry basket while i was busy cooking bean-soup with butternut-squash. - video is uploading...

I'll be done with the mortgage here in ~2 years, can't wait...
I envy you for all that flat land you have! I'd buy a small tractor and start a ginormous garden with the ducks!
And i envy you for that fiber-internet! How fast are the uploads?

@Luv Ducks - from the size of the duckling, that's not a mallard. - If those two are the same age that is.
When they are both standing the Fawn and White Runner is actually a tiny bit taller than the other one. The Rouen Ducklings with the double eye stripes in the bin in the store were much bigger than this one and this one is lacking that double eye stripe is what I was going by. They should all be the same age more than likely because Hoover Hatchery shipped them out together and they had just gotten them when I picked these two out. What type did you think it was if not a Mallard Frank? Just curious.

So glad to hear that all of your flock is alright and that the bird of prey did not get anybody. It sounds like a busy day with all of that going on. I hope your last duckling does well along with the one with the blister. Now that it has popped hopefully it will heal nicely and everything will be good. That bird of prey will probably return and I pray that Mr. Peaduck is alright wherever he is.
