The Quack Shack

Well this spring on the geese. Did I say geese stink. They smell so bad compared to ducks. I bought a cow today.
Oh the blue egg runners. I have to post a picture of the lavender and white one. She's tiny but pretty.

It is always time to get more ducks or hatch more ducks.
And don't forget to collect some duckling poop in a jar!
Open it when you feel the urge to hatch more ducklings…

After having hatched over 20 ducklings this year and having 14 of them living in my house i am somewhat done with ducklings…

Will it be warm there when they hatch out? It is so cold here that when I got two 3 day old Khaki Campbells in February a couple of years ago they got to live in my living room for 6 weeks! I don't think I will ever do that again, lol.
I feel your pain, sister!

I haven't been able to sleep last night!

Came outside to prepare the supper bowl yesterday at 18:30 and there were no ducks. None! Nada! Nimic! 😟
Walked up to the pond where i was greeted with an enthusiastic Quack-orgy!
They all wanted to spend the night out on the pond!

Last night was the coldest night we had so far here in WV, -4°(25F). Milka and Laura duck seem have issues with their oil gland, so they often get really wet when swimming in the pond, so i was very worried about them becoming hypothermic and walked up to the pond a couple of times during the night...

They seemed to be happy, except for the fact that they skipped supper. Everybody came back at 7:30 and demanded food. Milka duck was soaking wet and shivering, so i grabbed her (loud protest!) and dried her as best as i could with some towels, then kept her on the patio (16°/59F) and fed her. She left a huge pile of - fertilizer - for the peppers and then demanded her freedom so i let her go and she ran immediately back to the pond.
Her wound is fully healed, but no feathers have grown back so far - i wonder if her neck will become a permanently bald spot.
