Plus some (chillie-) peppers.
Still have to harvest the kale, the cabbage and the poatoes but they can withstand some frost.
Not to forget the sweet poatoes. The greens died last night, so i need to get the bulbs out asap.

I haven't been able to sleep last night!

Came outside to prepare the supper bowl yesterday at 18:30 and there were no ducks. None! Nada! Nimic! 😟
Walked up to the pond where i was greeted with an enthusiastic Quack-orgy!
They all wanted to spend the night out on the pond!

Last night was the coldest night we had so far here in WV, -4°(25F). Milka and Laura duck seem have issues with their oil gland, so they often get really wet when swimming in the pond, so i was very worried about them becoming hypothermic and walked up to the pond a couple of times during the night...

They seemed to be happy, except for the fact that they skipped supper. Everybody came back at 7:30 and demanded food. Milka duck was soaking wet and shivering, so i grabbed her (loud protest!) and dried her as best as i could with some towels, then kept her on the patio (16°/59F) and fed her. She left a huge pile of - fertilizer - for the peppers and then demanded her freedom so i let her go and she ran immediately back to the pond.
Her wound is fully healed, but no feathers have grown back so far - i wonder if her neck will become a permanently bald spot.
It almost sounds as if something has scared them to want to stay on the pond all of the time. I would think a predator was lurking about if this is not their normal behavior. Just wondering????

I tricked most of the flock this evening: I started to dig up Munte Caca, made from the content of the duck-run from September and slowly turned it into Mount Compost:

Munte Caca is the right pile of dirt and Mount Compost is to the left. One layer of almost dirt from Munte Caca then a layer from the rotten straw from the last time i cleaned out the duck-house, another layer from Munte Caca,…
The ducks were so excited and busy digging for - whoknowswhat (i have not seen any earthworms in that pile) - that they forgot to run to the pond until it was too dark. - Except for the dirty dozen and the Monty Python Drakes. Most important Chaos, Mayhem and Milka stayed in the duck-yard! Especially Milka needs a warm night inside, she was sleeping off her hypothermia under the former tomato/pepper bed the whole afternoon.
Everybody - but Blanca - ran inside the duck-run when they saw me coming out with their supper-bowl. They just wanted their meal and then go to bed, just Blanca insisted on her right to be food-taster... 😜
