We're also being told that the first freeze is just around the corner but it hasn't happened yet. Start of November is not at all unusual; some years there is a quick one in the first days of October just to mess with everybody's autumn bean harvest.

The season was a little unusual at first (April and June traded places temperature-wise). In the end, a very good crop of potatos and tomatos, a great one of apples, very poor winter squash (only a few and on the small side), garlic sadly overgrown and miniature because of humans occupied by other problems... That's why we grow EVERYTHING, something's bound to come out a winner every year :)
Exactly! - Last year i had so many tomatoes that the dux fled when they saw me carrying the baskets. - »Oh no! Not again tomatoes for dinner!«
This year almost nothing because of the drought. But the pepper and chilly harvest was very good. Have my freezer full for me and the ducks.
Squashes, zucchini, cucumber and pumpkin was a mixed bag, the early ones did very well, the late ones not so good due to dry soil.

first frost should be an official holiday for everyone who has farm animals.

View attachment 3968190View attachment 3968191these two are available to me in my neighborhood i’m waiting for a reply from the seller ( from my local FB group) i asked their age & price. in the meantime, do they look beautiful and perfect and gorgeous and wonderful and cute and adorable and healthy to you?? because I never had snowy calls before , I never had any calls before /yet so idk if they are supposed to look like this or not? the females bill looks mottled / spotted like most of my white layers. is that normal for a snowy call? help me I’m already thinking of names for them.
They are adorable. I only have 1 female and 3 males with other females with them that are not Calls. My female can wake up the dead when she is upset about something or wants to let everybody know she's alive, lol. Most of the time she is quiet though as she is quite happy with her male Pastel mate. I love my little Calls and they are a lot of fun and don't eat much. Good luck if you get them.

Hi @Supercow! Other than still without power and having to buy a new generator we are not doing to bad. Day 21 now. Hope everyone here is doing well and their flocks.❤️
I pray that you get your power on soon Miss Lydia. It is a shame that it is taking so long. I feel so bad for you and pray for you daily. I pray that they are wrong about it taking so much longer. I know it will be one big happy day when you finally get it back.

Hi Supercow! - Hi Quack Shack!
Emotional roller-coaster Tuesday was my last day as an employee, a very emotional day, the "doomed" opened a session on the internal instant messenger and were chatting until security kicked us out at 6pm PDT.
Since then i am trying to find a new daily routine and not to fall into that "why even get out of my bed" trap. The ducks are very helpful with that challenge.
I promise to catch up with you by the end of the week…
🧡
I pray that you can find another job soon Frank. I know here lots of companies are hiring but most are physical jobs. Everywhere needs school bus drivers or aides and we hire lots of retired people. Hopefully you can find something that makes you happy.

Thanks @ Luv Ducks
Day 23 and still no power. No one seems to be able to tell us when we will get it back either. So thankful for the generator.
