We have a net such as you put over a wound that has been dressed with gauze - from the time our old dog was in trouble. That should work for a start. I'm worried though that other ducks will pick at it.

Well, I guess the worst that can happen is we find it in the morning discarded and um, well fertilized.

In other news one of our young ducks is whistling... quite loudly and distinctly, as for example you would if you call a dog. No, it's not the same tune we use to actually call ours.
 
Well try putting a legging on her. Cut it off and pull it over her head for no more than three days. That should fix it. If not it won't hurt her just looks

Almost all of mine that whistled were Male ducks but then one day I had two females and one let out a loud whistle. It was the only female I ever had to do that and I was quite surprised.
 
She is (quacking loudly and) very unhappy about this
