Honey Locust is a very much discussed plant here. Some see it as an invasive pest as it spreads and grows quickly - others claim that especially these attributes make it a useful plant as the locust wood is very rot resistant, ideal for fence posts and structural components with ground contact.
And yes a thick honey locust hedge is very difficult to penetrate for larger predators.

Yes I know it was a bobcat cause one of my lemon hens had a big scratch mark across her chest. Glad she didnT get the hen cause she's a daily layer. Just goes to show I can't take a break at all and tomorrow ill be armed.

Sounds like he was a good protector of his girls and gave his life for them

Sad day yesterday here, when i came back home Smørre Duck, my last Blue Swedish hen was gone and later in the evening the little white duck succumbed to her injuries from the raccoon. She died in my lap with Momma Sunny close by…

Wow, just wow I haven’t been here in a week or two since I’m so busy with gosling’s and two sets of ducklings.. this is like reading a tragic ducky soap opera… I’m so sorry for all of these losses to predators

Sad day yesterday here, when i came back home Smørre Duck, my last Blue Swedish hen was gone and later in the evening the little white duck succumbed to her injuries from the raccoon. She died in my lap with Momma Sunny close by…

It is now June, in July we're merging the adult Khakis and our current generation of Welshies and Appleyards when they turn 3 months old.

We're a bit worried about the small Welshie that's about 2/3 size of a regular one ... One of our Khaki drakes is really a bully.

However -- I've noticed that in the mixed group of Welshies and Appleyards, the small guy tends to walk around with 3 Appleyard bodyguards ) (which are twice his size in length and 3-4 x in total body volume) So it might all turn out well.

Never had any issues when introducing new ducknagers to my flock. Important is that they know each other before having physical contact. See - no touch method. Ducks have a very relaxed peck-order - maybe because their bills are really bad at pecking…

Well, they were safe during the night, but i have to leave them alone and fend for themselves while i am at work. It was much easier while i was working from home...

I totally understand that Frank. So sorry that the trash pandas are out even in the daytime. Here they mostly stay gone until night hours.

So sorry to hear this Frank. Those Trash Pandas are absolutely terrible. I am surprised that your flock does not stay on the pond while you are gone, that way they would be safer. I hope you are able to trap or shoot them soon. Good luck.
