She’s so pretty and she looks small. Is she a call duck? I have a ancona that looks just like her but bigger I think..?

I like ducks and geese better than chickens. Don’t get me wrong. Chickens are cool. But Ducks and Geese are just so much awesomer. Sorry chicken people.
How many of y’all duck people on here also have chickens?
Presently, I have 21 ducks, 4 geese, and three chickens.

Yea. Her is a chubby little call dux.
At what age did you put your female Calls in with your males? I have two born the end of April and I was not sure if they would be safe at 3 months or if I should go ahead and wait until 4 or 5 months. They are fully grown and so interested in joining the rest of the flock. I just don't want them to get overmated even though my Calls already have their favorites. I have three Call males and one Wood Duck male in the pens. I have 22 hens counting these two I hatched out the end of April.

I use dog food with a bit of pancake syrup drizzled inside dog proof traps. Live traps are nice for keeping them from tearing stuff up around them.. but easier to catch in dog proofs and less chance of a skunk or something else going in. I was afraid they'd tear the fence up, which it did. But we wanted the traps closer to where they would be going towards the ducks, and farther from the trees so they'd be easier to dispatch instead of having brush to get tangled up in. Those black things are some cement weights I had blocking a low spot under the fence that needed filled with dirt. This is where I found them. That thing was determined to get in even after being caught.
I bought one of those traps and set it yesterday. I was not sure if you put the food down inside the hole of the trap itself? That is where I put mine. I am hoping not to get any of the neighborhood cats. Sorry, I did not have it set right, after looking at your pictures I see where I went wrong. Sorry for being so naieve about all of this. I had never used or seen anything like these before. Thanks for your info, I get it now.

I have never heard of dog proof traps. That is interesting. Thanks for the information.
I should have looked at your pictures again. Mine is laying flat on the ground. I never knew you stick them actually in the ground. I must sound really goofy, sorry, I have never seen or used anything like this before. I am going to go out and redo it.
