Well, it won't work. They are desperate and trying to get over the fence in every which direction including the ones not toward their ladies (but rather into the wildish area behind the duck houses where they become hard to catch and likelihood of injuries increases). What a peaceful day...
(Drake jail is operational)
I had a separate pen I put my two drakes in when I had them and they only tried to mate each other so I was fortunate. They could not see the ladies very well but could see them some. They were in an 8 by 8 pen by themselves.Well, it won't work. One kinda flew over but got his flipper stuck on the top; flopped downwards as you can imagine; started flapping furiously and managed to get himself back into a horizontal position; after some more flapping actually managed to be free. After that the next fence, the one circling the ladies' area, was a piece of cake.Sorry, just picturing hundreds of drakes trying to run vertically up a fence, and one digging for its life to go under the fence
I’m fortunate that I only had to put one Drake in jail and his four favorite girls ran in there with him and they’re all getting along fine and leaving the old ladies and babies alone thank GodOne kinda flew over but got his flipper stuck on the top; flopped downwards as you can imagine; started flapping furiously and managed to get himself back into a horizontal position; after some more flapping actually managed to be free. My neighbors are very close and they like the ducks - one side even likes the geese (that’s the neighbors who are extremely loud themselves with revved up motorcycles and trucks that I can’t stand) The other neighbor likes the Ducks, but not the geese so much. However, the geese have gotten used to him and don’t scream at him so much anymore. So we’re good. Plus they like the free duck eggs.DOes anyone in the shack have ducks with neighbours in close proximity?
