Ah I'm very sad Spokes duck was eaten today. It had been months since I lost a duck and the predators all seem to know my favorites. Spokes was 6 but still laying4 times a week. She was queen of the flock so there will be some surviving now.
So sorry to hear this. I hope that the rest of the flock stay safe and that whatever got Spokes does not come back for more. It seems the predators know our beloved ones and try for them first. That was what happened to me a couple of years ago until I got secure shelters for them.

A young Silver Appleyard boy has the gangster markings on his head like he should; but no green coloring. The other two have the green sheen. Does this mean that he's maybe a mix or is it considered a normal degree of variantion for this breed?

I have no idea as I have never hadf Appleyards before. That is a beautiful picture of your ducks. Are they mostly drakes or hens?

Those are the latest generation Khakis, 5 weeks old now. We think we can hear 2 girls, maybe 1 boy and the rest are a mystery at the moment, should be another week or two for them to develop their voices.
