I agree 100%. The whole Mexican government is corrupt and involved to some degree in all of this nonsense. It all stems from greed, well, and our government not standing up and growing some.

In Dec it will be our 10th Wedding Anniversary. I was so hoping for a trip to the Yucatan, FORGET THAT. It's a shame because Mexico is such a beautiful country to visit. Loved Cancun.

I have so much to say on this whole topic, I don't even know how to put it into words. I'm almost afraid to say it, but the violence has not reached my area at this point, we are hundreds of miles from the border (I'm not far from Cypress, for the person who posted about that area). I hope and pray the violent illegals don't find my area appealing to them.

My husband is Mexican, or of Mexican ancestry I should say. His whole family is native Texan and LEGAL citizens for many generations. He speaks English, doesn't speak Spanish, but it's amazing how much mail we get in Spanish because of our last name...

Even though we're a "Mexican" family...we are PRO BORDER SECURITY...we want the Illegal Aliens OUT. It's very frustrating for me because I want my kids to be proud of their Mexican and Aztec heritage, but these Drug Cartels and thugs make it hard.

I think all of us here respect Mexican heritage, culture, and the
contributions it has made to the U.S.. Most people of Mexican decent
that I know are wonderful people. As TXmom mentioned those folks
are just as frustrated with this situation as the rest of us, maybe even
more because they get stereotyped with the human garbage that is
present in so many places.

Most major and minor cities are affected by this. I'm not sure what the
answer is or if there even is one. As soon as one group moves out
another will move in.

Sealing the border is the only common sense
solution I can see and even that is just the beginning. Once we do
seal the border it's equally important to come up with some kind of
policy that assists the law abiding immigrant and/or aliens coming here
for noble reasons, like freedom and the American Dream.

Glenn Beck is an entertaining guy. I listen to him now and then.
My personal favorite talk show is The Dennis Miller show.

Thank you for your comments, I do want to ask that this does not turn into a debate on legalizing any form of drugs that are illegal. This is not just about drugs, it is about violence, and how tears our families apart. It is hard to live on the border down here, it is harder to live in Mexico. Teachers get a yearly bonus there and one of the big stories is how they are having to be escorted to the bank with their cash bonuses because the cartels men are waiting at the schools taking the money from them willing or not. They don't hide, they don't try and be subtle, they posted signs warning the teachers to hand it over as soon as they get it or they would be harmed and so would their students and families.

My dad was an educator in El Paso for years. He taught middle school and has all kinds of stories that would just blow most people's minds. And like I said, that was years ago. I can't imagine what it's like now.

That is insane! The power the Mexican government has given to those cartels just blows my mind. I know here, our previous sheriff was corrupt and aiding in bringing drugs in our town for years. That is all coming to a stop with a new sheriff in town. I don't understand why our government just sits back and focuses on all the problems overseas instead of dealing with the problems in our own backyards. It makes you wonder.

It is about drugs and the market for drugs in America. The illegal aliens wanting jobs is a separate issue. During prohabition there was a lot of violence. The mob made a lot of money and a lot of people were killed related to it. The solution is a no brainer. All it takes is to see the forest through the trees.

Who's Nifty?

I grew-up in Kingsville and have an uncle that works for the border patrol. We would cross the border in high school doing the very ignorant things that kids do but were careful to always watch our backs and where we went. When I got to college, my buddies always wanted me to take them to South Padre and those areas...they couldn't believe me when I told them I knoew nothing of that area that we 1) weren't allowed in that area & 2) listened to that advice and avoided it it like the plaque. I still 'member those that disappeared and were later found in graves...victims of that satanic cult down there. Ya'll 'member that. They were drug dealers that believed that by killing gringos they would become invisible to the police...worked for awhile.
