Hello,
So I have been raising Chickens, Ducks, And Geese, on this method for 5 years with absolutely no issues with their health or dropped production or excessive fat. I am just putting it out there and will not change my way of care but will consider any opinions and may add other supplements. Here is what I do: so I do not free feed my poultry, I give each chicken 1/2 cup of fermented cracked corn in the morning and 1/2 cup of whole corn in the evening, and I give each duck and goose 1 cup fermented cracked corn in the morning and 1 cup whole corn in the evening (this is ONLY my winter schedule) the following is my summer, and spring feeding schedule: each chicken gets 1/2 cup of a fermented mixture made
Of 1 part layer pellets 2 parts cracked corn fermented for 4 days then measured into the correct rations in the morning and 1/2 cup of whole corn in the evening, the ducks and geese get 1 cup of the fermented mixture in the morning and 1 cup of the whole corn in the evening. And everyone gets all of our table scraps (I mean everything even avocados and onions they never eat those anyway so they just end up working them into the ground anyway), they get to free range around 4 months out of the year, they get all the grit they need and some seeds and calf manna thrown to them every few days, and they get 14 hours of artificial lighting starting in September through April, an they also get all their egg shells sterilized, ground up and put in hoppers for them unlimited. Thanks for all opinions and "info"

Hello WhiteWyan,
I don't use them all year around just because I'm trying to cut down of feed costs as much as I can in my area layer pellets go for up to $25 per 50lb bag. And I also kinda go with what the chickens want and sometes I will give th some pellets when they don't feel like eating corn and corn when they don't want to eat pellets but what I have started doing with the switching it up a bit seems to keep them interested they seem to like it that way

Sounds like they are well fed! I was going to try calf manna for my moulting chickens but ended up going with mannapro poultry conditioner. There are 7 of them, I give them 4-5 tbsp a day mixed with birdseed scratch.
I'm also considering doing fermented feed, do you find it to be messy? Getting stuck to feathers and stuff?
Please post pics of your birds!

Ok I will tomorrow morning I'm not sure where you
Live but it's dark here, I will try to remember, they just don't really get fat or too sling they seem just right to me, and I don't find it messy at all, I usually just dump it in their run on the ground and they eat it all up and in a few minutes they are all finished up but I've never seen them have and dirty or crusty feathers. Usually the birds don't need much more that a quarter tsp of calf manna or any other "pink pellet" as we call them so usually any pink conditioning pellet are usually the same thing so I started using the of brand of it which is called nutrena "calf Grower" my feed store says it's the cheaper equivalent to manna pro at least in alaska it's $23 bucks a 50 pound bag versus $22 a 25 pound bag of calf manna
