Congrats on the egg!! WooHoo!!
Your geese are just now starting to bully the ducks?? I had to separate mine last summer, as the geese were very near killing some of the ducks!Still kind of slow on this thread...
I need to split up my geese and ducks. I've noticed the last couple days my geese are kind of starting to bully the ducks a little. Not a lot, but I can tell it's making a couple of my Anconas nervous. I'm trying to convert my dog "yard" that's about 1/3 acre into a goose pen. It's all dirt and full of holes from my old Pointer that loved to dig and has a bunch of Doug fir that needs to be cut down. I have so much work to do and I have to have my gallbladder removed next Friday. Then I'm not supposed to lift anything for 4 weeks! Not the best timing.
Cute, cute, cute!
That is hilarious!!! LOLLol, I have the opposite problem here. My call duck drake is starting to bully my geese. He chases them every time they get too close to his favorite girl. It's kind of funny seeing the little guy make the geese run in terror, but I do feel bad for the poor geese being "terrorized" like that all the time. They have almost an acre they have access too, if it bothered them too much I'm hoping they'd just go hang out in a different spot. I'm guessing that will change next year when there's a gander instead of just girl geese.
Hope all goes well with your surgery. Good luck not lifting anything, lol. They told me that when I had my kidney surgeries too, but with babies and kids that lasted about an hour after I got home.![]()
Cute little guy, amazing how fast they grow isn't it?
OMGoodness...that is so me! It's crazy how similar all us crazy BYC'ers are! LOLI sold a lot of Ancona babies! I get my feed from a Mill in Toledo Washington. You can just PM me her contact email & will get them together.
Set 6 Emu eggs today & 4 Tues.
Anyone Else when they watch a movie and there are chickens in the background try to figure out what breed they are?![]()
No, cute lil chocolate duck hasn't started laying yet...much to my dismay. The lil fuzzy in the picture is just a mixed duckling, hatched from my flock. Everyone is running together so no telling what hodge podge of colors he's going to be! LOL I'm guessing he is a Runner mix, but who really knows!I think it's ridiculous that you have to still fight to get your reimbursement after all you've gone through. Stupid irresponsible people!![]()
That's a lot of goose eggs. I should get a few this year, but having no gander I plan on blowing them out and using them to make Easter decorations. Love hatching the little things, so am thrilled to have a few goose eggs coming this way in the spring. Next year, still nowhere close to 500 but I'll be happy with hatching half a dozen or so anyway.![]()

Of course you meant his beak. We all know that the other thing pecker could be in reference to is called a PEE PEE around here, lmbo.
Sweet little baby. Is that a cute little chocolate duck? I love your chocolate girl.![]()
Jaz-don't know why my quote didn't show up. Gorgeous pics!
You sound like me....I want to hatch out every single goose egg I get. If I have a fairly good hatch rate I could end up with loads of goslings....what a happy thought!Marty, when is your next court date? In my experience, if the dog owners have any sense of responsibility and/or money, they will offer to fully reimburse prior to doing a plea deal early on in the case, as the judge will look very favorably on that. Hope that is how it plays out for you. How's Baby doing??
Yeppers, guys.... I am projecting 400-500 eggs with 6 African females and 9 dewlap females (possibly 10 as the verdict is still out with one buff juvenile). I also have 7 female ducks, most of which are daily layers. I'm trying really hard to get prepared, but I'm pretty sure it will be overwhelming to say the least.
Jasmine, no worries... you are on top of my list (as well as all my hatching fiends... I mean friends... on this thread).Do you want Africans, production Toulouse or dewlaps? Also debating on separating my cayugas to get pure hatching eggs. Interested in those too?![]()
Glad Baby is doing better!Baby is coming along. She walk on a foot and a knee know, but I guess that's progress. She's eating a lot more for sure. She and the goats are side by side in the their barn pens. I'm ready for spring, I think when she swims a lot, she'll get the other leg under her correctly.
Aren't they adorable! I've hatched about 50 something ducklings so far. I have some more due in a couple of days.Aww.I can't wait for ducklings! I need some more fuzzy in my life!![]()
I think she means pee pee. Go back and read about the poor, confused boy!![]()

Oh no! Don't work to hard and hurt yourself!![]()
Hey guys, I have a proposition! Would anyone like to help me out? I'd like to send someone some Welsh Harlequin eggs from my birds, free of charge except the shipping. All I'd want in return is to find out how the eggs did in shipping and if you manage to hatch any. I just want to test my shipping methods before I start to sell since I've never shipped before, and I thought one of you guys might not mind helping me. I also want to find out if the eggs are fertile, since the girls just started laying again and I just got a new drake. If you don't hatch anything at all, I'll even give you the shipping money back. I'd want to send the eggs out probably in a week or so.
That's a lot of ducklings! none for the year yet here, although I still have an around 3 month old "duckling" inside I haven't got around to moving outside yet (he's super friendly and my buddy and I'm not ready to move him out in the cold, lol). I finally gave in and bought some eggs, I'm ready for ducklings and mine are taking their time to start laying this year.Congrats on the egg!! WooHoo!!

This thread is starting to get back into business again and I'm getting spring hatching fever.

Some of my Sebs are very chatty and more busy bodies..other are very sweet and extremely shy. That's what I meant - mad as in crazy (like the Mad Hatter).
My Sebs have been so mild mannered.
That's a great deal. If I wanted more WH I would take you up on it. I bet someone will.
That is alot of ducklings...what can I say? I get addicted to their adorable lil selves! If only my incubator wasn't full, .I did that too to make sure they were arriving in one piece and hatchable, it made me feel a lot better about actually shipping them for real, lol. I also plan on sending some chicks to a friend of mine (if they ever lay eggs too!) to make sure I can get them there alive as a test shipment too.![]()
