just made the duckies a christmas meal

peas, strawberries, peppers, and blueberries on bottom. followed by a salad mix, kale, and a little broccoli on top.
i hope they like it tomarrow
if not ill never hear the end of it

So I just bawled my eyes out and hubby is removing them from the pen.

Did you only have those 5 chickens?

It was a coon. 2 have heads missing and the cage has been chewed through. Check this out.

They were all laying in a pile in the run. Such a waste.



I posted in "predators and pests" to vent and confirm it was a coon. But I know it was.

My sweet husband just removed them and said we need to build a dog house into the coop somehow. Nothing gets past my dogs, but I had them in last night because it was cold.

It was a matter of time, I know that, but the initial shock on seeing them is awful. You all know what I'm talking about!

Yes, I know exactly what you are talking about...

Coons sound like the most horrible and relentless poultry predators ever. It chewed through that wood.....! Your poor birds

They are and I hate them. I'm going to set a live trap. He'll be back. Now if I catch him... don't ask me what I'll do about it. Because I'm not totally sure. LOL!!

You can work that out once you've caught it. Are coons protected because they are native?

At the very least it might make it think twice about coming back and you will get a good look at what you're dealing with.

They really sound dreadful. Opening latches and things like that.
