I finally got a good count and we had somewhere between 54-56. Now that ParrotChick has taken 3, we have three less than that.
They have gone through 2 bags of feed since they've been there.. Piggy little ducks they are. And they HATE going to bed! It was impossible to herd them, especially since they can't fly/jump well like our chickens, so they couldn't figure out how to get in. It was probably a funny sight for our neighbors.
Tomorrow, we will be sending some of them to a farm near us as egglaying ducks. I thought they were all girls minus one because one had a drake feather and forgot about voice sexing because the quacks overpower the other voices.. But apparently we probably have some boys too who haven't gotten their drake feathers in. I had no idea that could happen.
Anyways! They had a good day. I went out and tanned with them for some time but my goose who got kicked out of the harem interrupted us. She was soooo intent on convincing the ducks that they were her children or her friends.. They were NOT taking it. So anyways.. PICTURES!
Enjoying some water.
They LOVE getting sprinkled with the hose. It's big big fun for them.
And here is our intruder, Lonely Heart (Gilderoy Lockhart, for those HP fans out there).. She wanted them to love her SO MUCH, but they were not having it. She finally left them alone and went dejected to the other side of our property (it's split by a stream).
This is her yelling, "Come to meeeee, my children!"
And this is her wondering why they don't love her.
Here is the picture I used to count them.. That's a lotta ducks.
