Unemployment almost 10% nationally

I would love to debate with you Deerman...However no political debate here on byc..

Don't forget war costs more than unemployment, health care or any other social service.. Most conservative admins since WWII have started wars... Think about if those trillions spent on wars would have been used internally to make our country stronger.
(Obviously I strongly disagree with you on what got us into this mess..)
SO... as us Liberals say...
PEACE...
Have a nice day..

Try buying something made in the USA. There are a few things but not much. What computer is made in America? Not just assembled here, but actually made here. TV's, toasters, faucets, there just isn't much made here. No doubt people want the cheaper stuff. The big box stores supply the market and we supply the demand. Even the small Mom and Pop stores that are left are selling stuff made in China. they just charge more because they don't have the purchasing power of the big box stores. Most GM cars and trucks are made in Mexico or Canada. Mexico because the labor is dirt cheap. Canada because the government pays for health care so GM doesn't have to. They still pay around the same wages though.

Infrastructure would be great. It is work that is sorely needing to be done and we have plenty of able bodied people that can do it. Jobs=wages=spending=new business=jobs=wages=taxes to pay deficit down.

Bring our troops home=money to build our country with instead of destroying other countries=common sense.

JMO of course.

Point is buy things made here if you can....my new Truck was made here, my work boots made here, if i need to pay more so be it , I support America worker anytime I can. People start buying things made here , then GM and others couldn't sell their product no mater how cheap they could make them in Mexico.

TV and Computer may be to late.......

I am very much aware of what the comment was referring to - several people have, however, pulled the age card on me, and it's infuriating. Trust me, I know what you meant by the Kool-Aid comment, and I assure you that I have been on the recieving end of similar comments for a LONG time; you are saying in not so many words that I am a crazy, close-minded fanatic hopelessly convinced of a myth. Along the same lines as the eternal tin-foil hat smear.

Agreed on war - not so much on FDR. How many times does this need to be pointed out? There Ain't No Such Thing As A Free Lunch, or TANSTAAFL. EVERY SINGLE DOLLAR that the government spends must be taken out of the private (job-creating) sector via taxes or inflation. Every government job costs at least one private sector job, and typically thanks to bureaucratic ineffeciency costs several. Public works programs are counter-productive. Where does the cash to pay for them come from? The PRIVATE SECTOR. Every dollar taxed is one that would have stayed in the economy.

Personally, I find it a little silly to think that taking money from the economy and then spitting some of it back out can somehow do more good than if the money were left there in the first place.

And yet.... if you had to choose between Sweden and Albania, which would it be?

How many jobs did the development of the internet take out of the economy? How many jobs did the development of interstate highways and airports take out of the economy? It matters how it is spent, both in the private and the public sector.

Income disparity Q9... The top 20% have 90% of the financial wealth in this country... I see nothing silly about having higher taxes on the wealthiest 20%, and reinvesting that money right back into the economy. It works very well in Scandinavian countries, where folks are well educated, and healthy...
Yet small and big business thrive, and people are still motivated to work and excel.
