What is Diatomaceous Earth supposed to actually be for? I have never tried it but have read good and bad things about it. Of course, I would never use such a powdery substance around my birds. It seems like it could harm their lungs. :idunno
Axe, a website that believes “food is medicine,” gives the explanation that “diatomaceous earth is used to kill parasites and viruses that can contribute to illnesses while also helping to clean the blood.” While this may be true in the form of Natural Diatomaceous Earth in animal feed additives, Dicalite Management ...

It is awesome in the garden for killing various pests. In the rare cases I had fleas on my animals, it was a good "dust" for rugs and them. Now they say it can help people too.

Only if it's contagious and in pain. If it's something like cross beak or crooked toes, I won't put it down unless obviously it's not doing well
I will cull any bird with a defect of any kind that I wouldn’t want to breed. The birds I have are generally in great health from all the people breeding before me. I feel like it’s up to me to not end up ruining them. So....the goal is for them to be just as good as when I got them and hopefully a little better.
