Ok guys I found someone 2 hours away who was selling emu eggs , I took the kids there and did they have fun, got a couple of pics of them with some emu's will post them later, bought 3 eggs this time i will be setting up 2 separate incubators just in case ,will be putting 2 eggs in one and the last one by it self also got some extra stuff off ebay last night so the incubator will better this time with a back up thermometer so it will turn off if it gets to hot.. also the guy told me to hatch chicks with the emus because emus dont know how to eat when they hatch and the chicks show them how.. very cool learning allot. so i will post pick later...

I also want to thank everyone for joining my discussion and for all of the support.. You guys are the best..

I don't even know anyone with emus but I followed this thread and really hoped we'd be seeing baby pics --
Great that you're going to try again --- :)

Congrats on getting the eggs and so close by! That will be a huge help, takes all that banging around from shipping out of the equation.
Ok, so are you hand turning? I again didn't follow every thread, and just jumped on in.....that's me what can I tell ya?

The Emu farmers I talked with were adamant about the way emu eggs are turned. Now sometimes I think a lot of what goes on is just too much over compensation for artifical incubation, but if it's not broke, don't fix it. I hope this makes sense and maybe you already knew this and had it explained.......since Emu eggs are so big and so oval, they incubate totally on their side. So to turn properly, you never want to roll the egg all the way over. Yes I am going to get you way more confused before I bring you back around.
What I mean by that is if you draw an X on one side, and an O on the other, I luckily had a white chalky type pencil so I could do it on those dark green eggs, then imagine the egg has one end pointing towards you directly and the other end pointing away from you. I sure hope this is painting a good picture.
When you turn, the first time turn the egg towards the right, putting the X or the O on the bottom and bringing the other side up. Now on the next turn, here's where you don't want to roll an egg all the way over, you turn it towards the left. So in essence the egg is not tumbling in a complete circle but rather rolling one way, then rolling BACK the other way. Now I know sometimes all these little details seem too much and confusing, I say that because my head was smokin by the time I got everything into my head on this, but I'll be darned I have managed to hatch Emu eggs really well and I hand turned them 3 times a day for 52 days.
When I looked up the incubation temps, knowing they are lower than other birds eggs, I decided on right in the middle of the temp range. The temp range in my book also had what should be corresponding days to hatch at those temps and I chose everything to be mid-range and have one incubator that can be adjusted up and down and is digital so I could set it exactly.

So really that's all I can throw in there as a just in case if you didn't alreaady know. I am wishing the best for you as I know you're going to LOVE the babies.

Please get a new thermostat. a helix is one of the best. Thermostat issues (like heat spikes and cold drops) are almost always preventable. Best scenario ever is to buy a backup battery/converter. You can find them online for electronics liek computers(or a music store as they are used for amps and other expensive items that can be perm damaged by a surge or dip). They are an interuption switch between the wall and your incubator. When you use when it stops any and all brow or black outs. That translates to even voltage throughout the day, even when power surges, dips or cuts out. This with a good thermostat would almost guarnatee (99.99999999999%) that you will not lose an egg to any controlable electronic factor.

thanks but the power did not go out once when we had our eggs it was actually the thermostat it went bonkers we bought a new thermostat and extra's of ebay we are trying a new one

I understood your post, I was saying this is a backup plan so if it does there will not be a problem. the helix is a very good thermostat with many built in safeties
