Well, woke up to my dogs barking **update** on post #1 (graphic desc.)

I agree with the other posts. I'm so sorry about you losses. I believe it will be back too. I think a dog, by the tracks, killed one of my birds. It dug under the fence. My husband was in the hospital and the birds were ok. I checked on them before I left for the hospital. The hospital was releasing my husband so I went to get him and was gone for 3 hrs. The hospital wasn't too speedy about discharging my husband. When I got home I found one of my birds dead with dog like tracks around her body. If I see a dog on my property again attempting to get my birds I will shoot to kill. SSS. I already have a big hole dug. Also I have now invested in an electric fence that is around the outside of my regular fence. I have seen a couple of mutts on my property and they have gotten into my trash too. I suspect they may have been the culprits. They look like a pit bull mix.

One BYC member said in another post on another thread that they used a paintball gun and shot some dogs that were after their chickens with paintballs. The owner couldn't dispute it because the dog/s had paint on them. I will try to find the thread.

Your poor chickens. That's terrible.

So sorry. Too bad your gun jammed. Someone really needs to take care of those dogs. Sounds like the neighborhood needs to sue the owners=morons. You should be able to have what you want on your property without fear of someones dog running free and killing everything in sight. I would be talking to the other neighbors that had problems with the dogs.

The closest neighbor is about a half mile away... I live on a farm and the next time I see the dogs, I'll be digging a hole with the tractor... Not too worried about the money lost. But it's just the principal of the matter. Dogs did not look well fed, and they travel together always hunting I guess. As I've said before, I've shot 3 coyotes and several large cats. Won't hesitate to do it again

Still missing some ( no bodies). The 2 injured EE's were looking horrible this morning, so they were culled. More are not looking great, but show some promise... Only time will tell. Have incubator FULL maybe as a suconsciense (sp?) knowing of what was coming

Hopefully the ones still missing will show up unharmed and heres to the hurt ones.

and a prayer for them. I get my heart broken so bad when something happens to one of mine. You would think I was greiving for a person. Well they are part of the family.

I made a post about about shooting a black lab with pink paintball but that was for using my front lawn as his potty place.

Now with my girls...stray dogs get shot with a 30-30 or 9 mm here. If I know where the dog came from I will talk to the owners ONCE, let them know their dog(s) was on my property and I have chickens and if it returns I will shoot it. I love my chickens and will protect them in a flash as I would my killer taco bell beast or my child.

I am so sorry for your losses. Hopefully more girls come home.
