What Chicken Breeds do you Dislike & Why?

Oh no no no. It's a naked neck silkie. My silkie is adopted, I don't know if she's a purebreed. But, she is the densest chicken ever. She's sweet but dumb and the poor thing always gets picked on. It'll be raining out, I'll move her undercover, when I check back on her, she's back in the rain. Sheesh. My kids love her though.
Agreed, mine lay eggs on the floor, in the yard out in the open, don't go in at night, and have a hard time figuring out how to get up the ramp. Mine don't get picked on though. They do the picking. They ended up being large fowl and the others are bantams.

yeah, i guess i didn't do my breed research when i chose a golden wyandotte for the flock.....beautiful bird, but a miserable bully.....'had to get rid of her and now my little flock is happy again....:)
Yep, had a nasty large fowl wyandotte roo once, but he was so beautiful. I have 3 bantam wyandottes, 1 is a roo, and the have been nice, quiet birds so far. They are skittish though

Well, I am so different from most of you guys! I absolutely LOVE my polish and silkies! I actually find them to be the 2 smartest breeds I own! However, although occasionally I will find one who doesn't seem all that bad, I tend to dislike Production red hybrids.. they seem much too mean, bossy, cannibalistic, and aggressive. I'm also not a cannot cornishx... Don't get me wrong, sweetest birds on Earth! But to me, breeding a bird who grows so fast they can't survive is terrible to me! Also, think of how much nutritional value you lose per pond of meat! I'm not a fan of most silkie or polish crosses though! They usually turn out pretty ugly... I'm not a huge fan of the CCL or Creovers... Those sparse few Crest feathers drive me crazy! I love feather footed breeds! They do require cleaning though. I'm also a huge "Not Fan" of hatchery Buff Orpingtons! The hens are usually so bossy and mean! Egg eaters too! Feather pluckers! I love the breeder Orpingtons though!
My buff orpingtons from 2 different hatcheries were always my favorite birds. Super friendly and good layers. I didn't replace them because they were so docile predators always got them and I got so attached, it broke my heart.

I also had to get rid of my GLW... buuulllyy! My poor BuffOrp had always had a bald head and I could never figure out why... now she has a full head of hair :D... since Kathryn has been gone! :tongue
And I do not like the rose comb that the Wyandotte has :sick... also, the gross looking “things” on the Silkie roosters head :sick
I didn't think I like silkie rooster heads either until I got my white silkie "Magnus." He's got lots of dangle and flop haha. One of those things that I have decided is so weird and ugly its beautiful...kinda like a turkey. I picked up a bunch of white silkie chicks on impulse because the were on sale. I never liked their looks much, but they are growing on me a little. I wouldn't get anymore though. There are just too many other breeds that I find way more atteactive.

Bantams just see, kind of pointless to me (those might be fighting words haha). I think it's just because I'm used to Brahmas and Marans- which are some big birds. I love seeing bantam breeds at shows though!
I love Bantams, but will not have them anymore, because I feel that they are at a disadvantage with predators when out free-ranging, I feel the same though, about small dogs. I can't be bothered, all my dogs are at are over 100lbs. -More to love-LOL

Haha, I have gone from big chickens and big dogs to little chickens and little dogs. My philosophy is small animals need less space, are cheaper to feed and care for which means I can have more pets to love! At this point, my place is a zoo haha. All are well cared for. Each definitely has its own benefits.
