What Chicken Breeds do you Dislike & Why?

You'd be surprised at how many Hawaiians are part Irish.

Unfortunately the breed I don't keep is one of the best for egg laying, the red hybrid, they lay eggs outside the nesting boxes and sleep in the nesting boxes, they could be aggressive towards other hens

I'm not fond of the look of naked neck breeds. Or RIRs, but that may just be due to my neighbors RIR rooster who attacked the heck outta me while I was feeding their flock while they were on vacation. I thought he was just like that for me because I was a stranger, but they said he's like for them too. If he was mine he'd be off to freezer camp.

3. Marans - mean, and bullies
4. Naked neck/baked Turkey, and showgirls - looks
5. RIR, new Hampshire, basically anything in that red/yellow/brown spectrum, looks

I am not a fan of silver laced wyandotte. The feathers are cool, but the comb is downright hideous, especially on our rooster. The rooster we had was so mean and aggressive and we refuse to buy any more silver laced wyandottes.

I don't like frizzle-types, silkies, or anything that *needs* pampering. I would also say that I don't like production hybrids, but my current favorite hen is a red sex-link!

Silkies and Cochins and anything feather-legged.
Don't get me wrong they are gorgeous and have excellent personalities.
But those breeds are also very high maintenance. So as much as I love to see them at shows, they are not for me.
And Silkies lack some intelligence, which makes me not like the breed, but I still love the Silkies I own as much as my other chickens. Maybe for the same reason?


Also don't like any designer crosses or fads Deathlayers, Silkies, Ayam Cemani... I could go on and on. Now that I think about it though I respect the breeds it's just the people who worship them who bother me.
"English" Orpingtons irk me.

A friend of mine raises Ayam Cemani and his wife's chickens got in and fouled his line so he gave me the mutts and I'm not a fan either. They are almost impossible to keep in anywhere and they want to fight everything, even the pullet has an attitude. Not my favorite breed by far.
