What is the purpose of backyard chickens?

I love coming onto BYC to check out the new posts. I have also noticed more posts being about something else. I have however learned a lot by just reading old posts even if it was about something I never had to deal with yet. Rather have the knowledge now incase it comes up than scrabbling at the last minute. I also love looking at pictures. Can't get enough of them. I use to spend most of my internet time chatting with friends or looking for a bf. Now my friends all have moved on with their lives and I'm now married so I spend my time on here. Love that it is family friendly and has a lot of other nice people to chat with.

Why does BYC just have to be about chickens?

I agree with you RR. When I first signed up here about a year ago, there were less people, less general gabbing, and more questions got answers from more people. Now, I think it's because the general gabbers (please no offense) add so much to the traffic that recent posts get bumped off the page within like 2 minutes or less. That's my assumption about what's happening. I have posted some questions in the past few months that got maybe 1 answer or none.... like (insert whining here) my question on how to catch my wild guinea and clip her toenail which is wayyy over grown.

Nifty, maybe there's a way to put general gabbers on a different "recent posts" page? Or encourage them to use chat rooms instead...? A "serious" and a "silly" page?

Don't know about angel wing. Guineas are STRONG LIKE HAWK and even if I catch her and roll her up in a towel, I know I will not come out unscathed. I have scars on my arm from before to prove it.

Purpose of backyard CHICKENS?

Chickens, of course.

And I think Nifty and the staff have gone OVERBOARD to make it family friendly and EVERYONE welcome.

well..i was gonna say the towel thing...darn!....thats how we always did our parrots nails...where does she roost? could you wrap sand paper around her roost? they do sell bird perches made rough for that reason...so, maybe sand paper will work...
