I noticed today the his or hers tail feathers have a blueish/green shine to them but the rest of its feathers are dull. I don't know if that makes any sort of difference! Haha

I'm with Kev, there's definitely a beard on that bird = probably an EE, definitely not pure BR, dom, or cuckoo marans. And with a comb that red at 8 weeks, it's gotta be a roo. He's so pretty and sounds so sweet; i hope you get to keep him! Any word on whether your vet will caponize?

Oh, and an olive egger is the offspring of a blue/green layer and a dark brown egg layer. If his barred parent was a cuckoo marans, it's possible that he's an OE... but the point is kinda moot since he's a he

i have a bird that looks just like this one, I got what I thought was 4 barred rock hens ... the one that looks like yours is bigger than all the rest and also takes on the motherly role. Curious as to what you find out with yours. Best of luck hopefully we have hens and not roos

Thats so funny because I hatched these guys At my work and gave the other 4 to my dads friend. I saw them yesterday and they all look like pure barred rocks and are half the size of mine! They have 2 Roos and they are have nice big combs. And their girls are small but have very red combs too. So I'm still not sure! Blades is massive but his/her comb isn't growing anymore. I'll let you guys know if I hear a crow or see an egg. I'm betting I hear a crow!
