Italian usually = catholic = big families, at least in the past. It's rare that is less then 30 with siblings, nieces and nephews etc. We only have one elderly aunt left, so my siblings are now the hosts, with our spouses, etc... Somehow I became the keeper of family recipes. Fortunately, we rotate which home hosts. It's actually both stressful and enjoyable at the same time. One group making pasta, sauces on the stove stuff in the oven - eat for hours and then off to midnight mass. Tradition!
