What kind of pellet gun for squirrels?

I bought a Benjamin 397 Pump Pellet Gun (USA) .177 Calber, 800 fps with Crosman Destroyer (hollow point) pellets, squirrels do not have a chance...

My old friend Lois was know for her Squirrel Pot Pie

, Tex brought home the squirrel and Lois baked the pies.

Gamo makes great rifles too, I think they are single pump action with up to 1200fps, but they are pricier than the made in China Walmart stuff.

Buy USA,

This is not actually true- at least in my experience. Shooting the squirrels in my yard does have a noticeable affect on the number of squirrels that frequent my yard. They do come back, but every year it only takes me shooting a few for them to get the idea. So the occasional "thinning of the herd" so to speak actually does work just fine. I can't completely prevent them access to what they're after. I can put away feed, but I free range my chickens all day, so I have to leave the coop open for them to be able to lay or eat. I haven't found any way to let my chickens have free choice, but not the woodland creatures, other than to eliminate them. If my neighbors wouldn't feed the squirrels so much, there wouldn't be nearly as many as there are anyway. I'm simply having to respond to an unnatural situation created by my neighbors feeding the squirrels. To the OP I say, don't feel bad about doing what's necessary to keep your home free of pests.

I bought the Remington Airmaster 77. Great little gun for eliminating backyard squirrels. It's probably the best deal for a solid rifle that will last and be effective at eliminating the problem. It makes a little bit of noise, but nothing near what a .22 rifle makes. It's quiet enough to use in your backyard. I have neighbors close all around me and haven't had any issues. Just make sure you're careful where you point it.

They have a distinctive pop to them, but unless your neighbors are standing out in the yard right next door they're not going to notice it.

.22 CB's and and subsonic .22 Shorts are extremely quiet, the impact at the target is usually louder than the gun firing.

I'll vouch for the .22 Shorts - good for squirrels, but not much else. If I'm not mistaken, though, they need to be loaded directly into the chamber. Still, they're REALLY quiet.
