Histaric mottling has been reported in imperfect mille fluer coloring, it's a mysterious gene that scientists haven't figured out which part of the coloring geneom it plays on.

1) you spelt it wrong.
2) you're talking to the woman who's dedicated her time and resources to working with the mille fleur pattern. I know for a fact that the 'info' you posted is not in line with genetic information currently known to man. Imperfect mille fleur patterning is called AGING and poor breeding. I'm also studying animal genetics so let's talk

The information I've gotten is most recent I can find, mainly from around 2013-2014ish.

America, not sure on numbers. Mainly reported in project Mille Fleurs. I did look up splash mottled, that doesn't seem to exist.

He maybe a mixed breed right now, but once I get going on my line of crele Orpingtons, they technically won't be "mixed breeds."
Extended Wheaten is supposed to be a challenge to use for this type of color pattern, which is fine by me, cuz I like challenges.

What is extended wheaten?
Is that a mash up for extended black and wheaten?
Which is what your bird is so that brings up the dead end of your project.
How are you going to maintain breeding for extended black/wheaten birds?
You can't make that breed true.
If you want to mess around with a sorta kinda ok not crele orpington why not just use a partridge orpington and add barring?

The buff orp cross looks like a pullet to me. I don't see any male characteristics at this age, but then its early.
